Big Change

So I have been working for the same company as a receptionist/secretary for about 2 years now. I enjoy it a lot. It's very laid back, and i can pretty much do whatever i want whenever i want. I am now spoiled because of it. ha. But i graduated from UCMT as you all know by now, about 7 months ago. I worked at a spa for about 2 months and though i loved doing massage, i didn't quite fit it at that specific spa. So i quit. Before i start on the "big change" story i will give you some background on how i was offered this opportunity. So this company i work for RSI. They do stainless steel fabrication and installation, and we had placed a bid on doing all of the Stainless steel work for the new property of St. Regis Resort in deer valley, ut. We got the bid. And as soon as i saw the blue prints come in and saw the spa attached to it, i knew it was destiney. So while i was still attending school i made contact with the spa director in hopes i could get an "in" when they start hiring. So she told me to keep looking for an email, and at there job site to see when the job was available. So i did, and months went by and by and by and by. And last week i recieved an email asking me to come to an open interview in park city. So of course i was up there bright and early (2nd person there) and interviewed with a very nice lady, that i hit it off with quite well i thought. So she asked me to come do a hands on the spa director the next day!!!eeekkkk! Of course i accepted that offer and came the next day to do my hands on. I was so nervous, but felt quite comfortable. (sounds weird i know). So i arrive at the hotel to do my hands on and the room is completley empty except for to draped off areas and 2 ladies sitting at a table between the draped areas and a girl sitting next to the door. whom i was assuming was there for a hands on as well. So on of the ladies greets a girl that came in the door and brings her back to recieve a facial. And the other lady decides to come over and entertain me. I didn't know who she was, but i just started talking to her about massage and this job opportunity and at the end i shake her hand and she introduces herself as the assistant to the spa director, and at that moment i froze for a second and got a little scared. Then i felt a hand on my shoulder and this little blonde lady asks me if im ready to do the hands on. I stand up and say "of course". She introduces herself as the spa diretor of Remede' spa in the st.regis resort. She walks me back to the draped area and says you have about 15 min to do the massage and i would like work done on my pecks, shoulders, and neck. SWEET!!! So we begin and i give her the massage. I thought it was ok on my end, i wasn't quite satisfied with it. But she seemed to really enjoy it. I let her dress and she came out and shook my hand, and said she would call me in a couple hours to let me know if i had the job or not. My jaw dropped a couple hours, that is quick. I was relieved but nervous too. A couple hours went by and i was literally sitting on my couch at home with the phone on my lap. haha. the call finally comes. Me " hello", Nicole "Hey is angelika available", me "this is she", "hey angelika this is Nicole Miller from St.Regis you came in and gave me a massage a couple hours ago", Me " yeah, yeah i did" (so nervous), Nicole " well i was extremely impressed with your touch, and think you have an amazing talent, and i would love for you to share it with my team at st. regis, So i would like to extend this job opportunity as a full-time massage therapist, would you like to except?", me " YES!!!!!, seriously, youre not joking me?", Nicole "hahaha, no im not joking you". Me " yes i accept".
So people that is how it went, and i have now quit my other job i have been at for 2 years and am on my way to become a full-time massage therapist at the St. Regis Resort at the Remede Spa in Deer Valley, Ut. I stat training this week, and start at the hotel on November 29,2009. So wish me luck. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to work for a spa like this, so i hope i do well, and i hope this is the right choice.

Momma Tip

You know when you get the rings on you tables from everyone that doesnt use a coaster. Gah that pisses me off. But i called my momma the other day and asked if she knew anyway to get them out and of course she had a nifty idea. Are you ready, it's completley odd. Cigarette ashes and mayonaise. WHAT!?!? Yup it WORKS!!! totally random, but it pulls that white ring right off the table.

Momma Tip

If you want to clean your carpets and dont have time to go get a carpet cleaner and then let them dry this will be your new best friend.
Whenever i deep clean which is 4 times a year, but i actually do this once a month.
If you take resolve carpet cleaner (the spray, not foam) and mist it all over carpet then get your box of baking soda and scatter it all over the carpet. Let it sit for up to an hour. Then the vacuum and vacuum it all up. The baking soda will pull any smell or stain color out of the carpet. I love doing this before i switch out my scentys, it makes them stronger, at least to me anyways. Also when you move your furniture off the carpet to do this and there are indents in the carpet, put an ice cube there and it will make it go back to normal. :) Thanks momma!

Brownie Candy Cups
You just can’t beat chocolate and peanut butter. These are some treats I made for work. Hope they like them… I did!

Brownie Candy Cups

1 package Duncan Hines Chocolate Lovers Double Fudge Brownie Mix
2 eggs
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
30 mini Reeses cups unwrapped
1 Box Reynolds 2-inch aluminum foil mini cups for muffins

1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Place 30 foil liners on baking sheet
3. Combine brownie mix, contents from fudge packet in mix, eggs, water and oil.
4. Stir with spoon until well blended. (about 50 strokes)
5. Fill each liner with 2 tablespoons of batter
6. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes and remove from oven
7. Push 1 Reeses in center of each “brownie cupcake” until even with surface of the batter.
8. Bake 5-7 minutes longer.
9. Cool 5-10 minutes in pan and then move to cooling rack to cool completely.

Portabella!!!

Last night i made a delicious portabella mushroom burger. For all the vegetarians out there that are veggies because of health reasons but miss the taste of meat, this is an awesome substitute well........for now anyway.
This whole 2 weeks i have been doing really good. I can actually already see and feel a difference in my body. It's pretty incredible actually. I have also come to quite enjoy rice milk, but i won't lie i still use 1% milk for my homemade hot chocolate and baking. I am actually craving healthier foods, like fruit and veggies, i like it. :) Hopefully this will last, and i will keep enjoying it as much as i have been. Happy Fall. :)

Short, OVERLY packed Weekend!!!

This weekend....Friday night i had my first vegetarian cafe experience. I was quite pleased. It was a quaint little spot in SLC called Sage Cafe. I wont lie i'm still going to miss a big huge juicy cheeseburger, but my heart thinks otherwise. ha. Saturday, i picked my momma up and miss rylan and picked up all her stuff for her birthday party. I can't believe she is already 2. She was completely convinced that we were celebrating elmos birthday. ha. I will have pictures up later today of her bday. Sunday was the big birthday day. We had some slight draw backs, because my grandma nor my brother had a car at the moment so i had to play taxi cab, but i didnt mind. While everyone feasted on my mommas famous chilli, i had my sweet awesome steamed broccoli and baked potato. thanks mom :). OHHHH not to mention, on friday all day, i fall cleaned my house (still in the works). But i made a big no no. I have a couple scentys around my house and one of them sits on my kitchen counter. So i moved the scentsy to the corner of the wall so i could wipe down the counter and move the microwave. I placed it SECURLY in the corner and moved on to cleaning. As i unplug the microwave to move it off the counter, it gets tangled with the scentsy plug and what goes flying, none other than my scentsy ALL OVER my walls, tile floor and everywhere you can imagine. That was the biggest mess ever to clean up. Wax is the crappiest, hardest stuff to clean up. GAHHHH! Anyways my house it squeeky clean and thats all that really matters right? i guess. have a GREAT MONDAY!!!

MOMMA SANDY TIP

So i figured my momma is pretty much a genius and gives me the best tips ever to get rid of smells, stains, decorating, cooking, baking, and they are amazing. So im going to start posting them, because im sure (hoping) that everyone else has these issues too. So hopefully they will help you as much as they help me. :)
So i have 2 scentsys in my house, and they are amazing, but i wanted an even stronger smell, especially for the holidays. I love having my whole house smell like cinnamon, pumpkin, anything that is holiday like. So here s my momma tip

Momma tip #1- For a strong smell of yummyness (angelika word) in your home. Go to wal-mart, smiths, micheals, roberts, anywhere really, go down there candle isle and find the liquid poppuri (spelling?). Then instead of buying a poppuri (again?) burner go home put you stove on simmer and pour a good amount of the liquid in there, then add things like clove, or cinnamon, like the seasonings you cook with and let it simmer. OMG it works so good. and the liquid poppuri is only like $3. so its perfect and it lasts quite awhile too. And if it starts running low i just add a little water too it instead of more of the liquid.
